Police are appealing for witnesses after the Bridge Street plaque - a tribute to victims of the IRA bomb in 1993 -was taken some time between April 20 and May 5.
The Fact that nobody noticed it missing does not really bode well.. Also that area of Warrington has CCTV camera's every where and no one noticed !! for 15 days

My nature is generally one of goodwill and understanding of people's problems.
I make the allowances - and yes maybe too many - but that is being human.
However I have to say that vandalism of charitable premises or to the memorials
that are so important to communities, just makes my blood boil. In these cases I
am so very far far to the right on punishing the offenders. But our namby pamby
and frequenty deaf politicians fail to grasp the beeping nettles that it's decent
citizens want grasped. >>:-( <*<
I think I must stop now before I certainly incurr the blue pen :police:

Wullies offer is ideal but sadly could not be used. Like the rest of us i despair of the decline of this country. John.

should bring back the stocks when they catch them

According to the Beeb, the plaque has a scrap value of approx. £30.00 >:-o
I sincerely hope it got the thief a dose of whatever narcotic that they use,
strong enough to euthanise themselves.
-
strangely our local paper today carries the headline that over 80 rememberance plaques have been stolen from the local cemetary
what a world we live in

The thing is .... " Who's buying them"

" Who's buying them"
The same guys who buy Network Rails cables, the church roof lead, the manhole covers from your street etc
The Bent Scrap Merchants ......... and that's not to suggest that every scrapyard is knowingly accepting stolen goods.
There's something in the offing about changing the law on sales of scrap but I forget what it was.

Responsibility has to lie firmly on the scrap metal dealers shoulders to check what they're buying.
