Title: Gaurd rails Fairmount Alpine
Post by: david48 on June 23, 2012, 11:18:22 am
I have put the handrail together for my build ,useing the supplied wire in the kit ,useing the smallest brass wire supplied, to discover there is not enough I then ordered some .5mm brass wire from 4D modelshop.co.uk, when it arrived I checked the size againest the one in the kit to discover that the wire in the kit was bigger ,it is .75mm not .5mm the build manual  says item F22A is .5mm dia .So the upshot is I should have miked all the wire first and not assumed that the smallest wire was .5mm .I will now have to source some new stanchions. Any one Building this kit might want to check better than I did.

Hi David,
I didn't use the brass wire supplied with the kit, instead I bought .7mm brass rods and it worked great. By the way, there were not enough stanchions in the kit. I did contact the Billing representative in British Columbia and he promised that he would ship the missing parts. I am waiting now for more than two month. In the meantime I bought the stanchions on ebay.
By the way, I did use .5mm styrene for the extra steel plates along the hull.

Regards
Wilhelm
