Hi all,
This is my first post so go gently with me...
I managed to pull the aerial through the housing of my Angling Technics Standard bait boat and have taken it apart with a view to repairing it myself (I'm doing this as it cost me a fortune to get it serviced and it's in a much worse condition now).
Whilst the repair of the aerial looks straightforward, I have tested the battery and it's flat and won't take a charge. The problem I have is I'm not sure how to get the old one out to replace it. The battery rests on the bottom of the hull of the boat and I was expecting it to be siliconed in place, but it's stuck solid. I'm not sure what it's been stuck with, so don't know where to start.
The stuff holding down the battery is grey in colour and is set hard.
Any ideas what it might be and how I might shift it?
I thought that I could cut around it (through the 'glue' - not the boat!), but can't really find a suitable tool to do it with. The craft drill 'angle grinder' type of tools can't be used due to the shape of the hull. I was thinking maybe a heated up angled pick might do it but I'm not confident that my hand is steady enough not to damage the hull or that this will actually loosen up the 'glue'.
Can you suggest a tool that might help (and if so where can I buy one)?
I was even considering hacking the battery apart but thought I'd seek some help first.

Can you post up a couple of pictures... might help us to discover what the "grey suff" is and give a more better answer as what will remove it

As essex says pictures are required for people to give advice, unless someone on the forum already owns one.
It could be a very bad Idea to (hack) at a battery.

Hate to say this...but the 'grey stuff' sounds a lot like Plastic Padding to me.....maybe contact a demolition contractor ?

Right then 2 things i need to know as I have rebuilt a lot of these bait boats where are you located and can we please have a picture of it

Try a SHARP wood chisel ........slide it down the side of the batt,for goodness sake DONT go at it like abull in a china shop,be gentle,Ive seen these boats dropped on concrete etc and are pretty sturdy even though they are plastic.If this doesnt work then you will have to use a flexi shaft on a dremel with a router bit on it to chew the stuff out,second option is probably the BEST.
