Title: Two part paint
Post by: Tug-Kenny RIP on June 29, 2012, 11:30:44 am

Just a query really.

I have bought aerosol paint on the colour choice alone and noticed it says  2 part paint.  I assume something else is used on top to achieve a different effect.  Maybe gloss or a twinkle effect, judging by the colour of the can top.

I would like a twinkle effect and would love to know how it's achieved

Can anyone enlighten me please  (Stavros ?)      :}

Ken all you need to do is to apply Halfords clear laquer over it to bring out the lustre in it.As for twinkle paint as you call it I presume you mean a metalic finish and I think this is what you have got.

Can you please tell me what the colour is and what car manufacterer it is from

Hi Dave,

I have the lid in front of me and it looks like you are right.

I haven't sprayed it yet as I wasn't ready for it and didn't want to waste it.  I see it's not actually 2 part but it does twinkle as if it had shiny bits in it. What's does the clear laquer consist of please. Does it go hard and can be polished ?

cheers

Go to Halfords and get some clear laquer this is what gives you the shine,if you just spray the metallic paint on it's own Ken it will dry matt,it needs the laquer to give it it's shine.Yes the laquer can be polished to your hearts content and of course it goes hard
