Title: Fairmount Alpine
Post by: david48 on June 29, 2012, 08:32:20 pm
To the builders of Fairmount Alpine ,please can you help   There is no mention in the build book of the detail on the hull where the blue is  ,doing a search on shippspotter it appears to have steel welded to the hull , I can mark it out from the plan ,the question is how thick would this have to be or do I use the theory that if it looks ok in relation to the hull it will be ok .

If that is an additional layer of steel plate along the hull,...

1/2" thick would be .006", or 0.13mm thick @ 1/75 scale.
1" thick plate would be .013", or 1/64", or 0.33mm thick  @ 1/75 scale.

 :-)

Thanks Umi for the info,  I will have to find out  what thickness the original is ,it is not a very close up picture on Shipspotter to make a comparison with something else of a known size.
