I've a model which seemed decent enough, but I'm leaving the hobby now, my interest has gone.
I had an accident with her this week where I shorted the battery terminals and she suffered a melt down, with battery wiring and fuses heavily damaged, ( now been replaced), but a secondary fault also occurred finding the Tx (Futaba 6EX) had gone haywire in the driving rain, and finding the Electronize 30A ESC has blown....Thing is, do I bother to repair her, knowing she'll can only be sold at a fraction of her value in these depressed times, probably, only at the cost used for a new ESC and Tx, or do I just set fire to her and give her a viking funeral knowing no one would miss one more model?
I'm leaning toward the Viking funeral idea at the moment if I can borrow a Tx and sail her out to sea...anyone else cremated a model?

We had a moored fort that we used in small pool displays. It could be interchanged between WWII and Napoleonic, depending on the display. Half a year into its use it suffered a catastrophic meltdown, which worked its way through the switch control mechanism, out to all the cannons and back through the earth leads. The time it would have taken to repair it and the effort involved just didn't fire up the enthusiasm to repair it. It sat unloved for 12 months awaiting its moment of fame to return. In the end, it went in the skip.
Now, I wish we had kept it.
So, much though I love a good viking funeral and have had more than my fair share in the past, my advice, pass it on to someone else. they can always invest in the repair if they want, or use it for a static display model. So, put the matches away :-)

Just put it up on the sales board with a photo and an
optomistic price. Someone might just want one and
there is no cost so nothing to lose.

I agree, no point binning it, when someone could well want it to have a play around with. Depending what it is I might be interested, and I'm sure others here might be.

Rather than throw it away why not put it on sales - just as proceeds to RNLI apart from p&p :-))

I've looked into a new ESC and found a Tx repair service (not Futaba), which doesn't cost an arm and a leg: Apparently £8.50 per stick, £10 labour and about £8 p&p reurn by special delivery at modelradioworkshop.co.uk here in the UK. He seems to come highly recommended by mainly flight lads. Will report back if ok.
When those arrive, I'll be able to start tackling the problems and if successful will stick her on her to see if anyone's interested, might even do a full rewire so she's pristine for new owners if anyone wants her...might take some time though.
Oh, the model Biker? On a video on here somewhere 'HMS Edinburgh Type 42'

HI CLOGGIE YES THIS IS WORTH IT in my opinion so as the gent said put the matches away an take your time on a rewire :-))

Bryan these are only small faults on "E" and she should not be torched - She looked great on the lake on Sunday and should be out on the water again.
Nobody wants to see her disappear nor you leave modelmaking

Went over to the Modelradioworkshop with my defunct Futaba FC-16 last week--- collected it the next day repaired and with a few modifications and moderately priced.
Mike is a very knowledgable and competent electronic engineer who has been repairing and designing R/C equipment for many years [look at his website ] for individual's
