ok had a bit of a problem with my new boat .
just took it out for its first go and it didnt go to plan , the boat was swaying side to side and even fliped up in the air at one point and landed upside down , the rear of the boat started to sink until it got to the front of the boat and stopped and started bobbing up and down like a fishing float .
any ideas why it was so unstable swaying side to side and flipping up ???

have you modified it in anyway?

no mate its brand new , only thing i did was use a 3000mah lipo instead of the 2200mah recomended

possibly the extra weight unballanced it
it may be as simple as moving the battery forward or backwards to get the ballance right

ill have a play about with the battery tomoz see if that sorts it , cheers buddy

RE: any ideas why it was so unstable swaying side to side and flipping up ??? Looks like you have overpowered the hull you have gone to fast and there is not enough
hull in the water to maintain stability at the speed your going at. Would suggest try easing back on the stick a bit see what happens.
Also look at the battery position is it lying flat in the hull in the lowest position it can be inside the hull. If the battery is vertical or high up this can also cause Rock n roll in
the boat at speed. if you have flipped the boat deff overpowered it for that to happen, too much air under the hull. If you look at some of the powerboat race crashes on
you tube most of them go vertical first.

The centre of gravity balance point should be 27 to 30% measured from the transom (most people settle for 30%) eg if your boat measures 36 inches the c of g will be 12 inches from the transom, and as someone else has already said keep all the weighty gubbins as low in the boat as possible.

ps It may help to put some foam inside the boat to help with floatation should it flip again. I use the foam swimming noodles, easy to cut to shape and stick in with a bit of silicon sealant, don't let the foam get too close to the motor/esc.
