Hope the removal and any clean up is done quickly.
Holyhead, though a bit out of the way is quaint to visit..
-
You could only see the top of the mast above the water at high tide. Its only 5 minutes walk from my house. Do they know why it sank?
-
Just thought people may like to know, they raised it and pumped the water out where it duly sunk for a second time and where it still is in that state now :D
-
OH classic as Victor Mildrew would say ...........I DONT BELIEVE IT

i am guessing by the shape and size of the report that it's the old JAYCEE of clements & knowling of Brentford
-
what was the outcome Stav?
Dave

Honestly dont know what hapened will ask a M8 of mine tomorrow if I remebr ! as he works out of Holyhead on th eferries
Dave

Is it tomorrow yet Dave? ;)
Dave

Believe it's still sunk as the owners didn't have suitable insurance to cover recovery costs - but don't quote me there!

Could we all put a bid in and have our own share of a Mayhem tug boat project? ;)
-
Sold for £2,200
Heres a picture of what she looked like before the sinking
Some people may like to know it is not the old Jaycee but the former Thames lighterage tug Lighterman built in 1954
Theres some more information on this blog

Thanks, and for the link to the blog :-))
Have you many local pictures?
Dave
-
I could probably get some, I've a few general photos of the harbour but could always get more if you wanted :)
-
If you are out and about :} yes please.
What often strikes me is we often see the classic shots of vessels posted but not so often the deck images. Or the lads working on them. I once saw a photo of a guy working on a windlass (I think) and I swear that Michelangelo couldn't have concentrated harder whilst chipping away a David's bits, than that guy working.

I've just started a thread for the pictures I've already got :-) looks like I'll have to go out and get some more boaty type ones(a task not unenjoyable by any means) :-)

The tug is back afloat again now after being sold. Looks in a very sorry state having been underwater at every high tide for six months
mire info/ pics here

I reckon it could be restored, take a bit of work but I think its achievable, I've seen some worse than that come here
-
Now then, people may be interested to know that the tugboat has sunk again for the THIRD time {-) %%

Classic .....Methinks it's about time they simply lifted her out and put her out of her miserey and cut her up for scrap before someone gets hurt or even Killed,as this Tug is obviously jinxed

Which was the Jaycee before it went to united towing of hull. I think they also had the sister boats the Brentonian and Scorcher.
