Hello all, I would like to post a build of a Model Slipways Assurance Class Tug I am building.
Ive got a DVD of a movie called "The Key" which I am using fore reference.
I have decided to add as much detail as possible, please note weld lines and rivets on the decks.

Good to see you posting on here Tim..........and a very nice build too.
I also think that members on here would absolutely adore your build of the Dumas lifeboat..........we don't get many Dumas builds on Mayhem, and your lifeboat is especially nice.............please!!! O0 O0 O0 O0 O0

Finally found time to work more on this Big Tug, all rear deck work:
Got the bulwark cap on, bulwark supports in ( very tedious ), rivets and straps on inner bulwark and finished the rivets on the exterior of the hull.
Got rings and shackles on the rear cabin structures.
Had to make rope guides from scratch for the aft end of the hull ( none provided for the back and only half of what is needed at the bow ).
Time to plan / make the towing bows, then vents.

Hallo Mr. May !
So happy to see your visit here and thanks much for your comment.
This is a Big model and will take some to to complete, alot of details !
Tim.
-
you are certainly upto the job though Tim..............
If a man can restore a TR2/3 the way you are, he can make a lovely job of this model.
by the way....you're up late toniight, lol
neil.

Good Evening Niel !
Thanks for the compliments, and as for the TR3, I am so fortunate to have a civlized automobile at hand ...
This build will take time, she will be lucky to see water by next summer.
SO many details to attend to, just the riveting is a full task !

Nice work, Tim B.
This has got to be the subject of my next build, haven't got a grey boat in my fleet yet.
Rivets look the business.

those rivets look great :-))
-
Thanks everyone.
Its slow going, not only due to 1 million rivets, but because carefell planning must be made before each section is done, lots of small bits to put on that cant be done later.
Time is also taken away by another model, a scratchbuilt Pottinger designed Thames River Workboat ....

Its all in the detail though isn't it Tim, looking good and that takes the time. You could throw it together in a couple of weeks but where's the fun in that!.
