Title: Film/movie archive
Post by: flag-d on May 10, 2006, 02:35:41 pm
Hi All

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but...

Does anyone know of any film or movie footage showing Fairmile type D MTB/MGB's?  I've tried IWM without any success in getting a reply though they must have some footage somewhere.

Mike, did you have had a try at the "British Military Powerboat Trust"?

In my opinion the first adress to ask for that matter....

Here is another thought. There was a half hour documentary called "Fast Attack Boats" on TV which included footage of Fairmiles. It was originally shown on one of the terrestrial channels but gets repeated from time to time on UKTV History.

I put in my hometown in the search box. Interesting to see what has changed, and things as they were before I was a boy.

Good site indeed.
I typed in sail, and got:
- HMY Britannia, sailing yacht in the 1930s.
- Schooners
- Thames barges
 and others

Great find, thanks, Tom.

I put in my home town "Plymouth" and up came several films. The one I enjoyed most was the return of HMS Amethyst - mainly because as a schoolboy my mother took me to "Rusty Anchor" in Plymouth to see the ship crossing Plymouth Sound. I also remember the ship's cat "Simon".

Later I watched "Amethyst" being broken up and scrounged a length of her mahogany.
