Jason,

I don't know of any events in the Cambridge area next August. Deans Marine will probably have their open day either the first or second weekends in September. The Cambridge Model Boat Club meets on Sunday mornings at our water on the north side of Cambridge. If you are interested in joining us one morning, let me know nearer the time and I will give you directions and arrange to meet you.
