I have recently joined Model Boat Mayhem and would like to introduce myself and say thankyou for the welcome e-mail.

I am in my 40's and live in the same town as Pugwash and I blame him for leading me this way! I have a hectic job so my builds will be slow!  I was brought up on the usual plastic kits, but since building a large balsa Spitfire and a Revell Snowberry I need a greater challenge. I have always been interested in British warships, so if anyone can point me in the direction of a largish warship for a beginner to build (Pugwash adapted a Deans Mariine Battle class to HMS Aisne and it is superb but beyond me at this stage!)
Perhaps the Bronnington  or Morecombe Bay ?

Thanks for your suggestion - not looked at that range for years and the 1:350 are a step up on plastic kits but not in at the deep end with say a Deans Marine!!. I have asked the UK distributor on the site for prices - do you have any other sources?

Food for thought

Welcome John - I think you will find Dicky has made a few of the Deans kits (Amethyst for one) and is very helpful.
Fleetscale and Sirmar may also be worth a look if it has to be a warship.

I am getting one from SHG who are hoping to get them in next week and they think the price will be about £ 175.00 plus p&p.

This is the 1:200 kit and is approx 4ft 2ins long.

SHG are best contacted by phone and are extremely helpful and will supply all the running gear as well.

I got my Arizona from them and it was excellent service.
