The other half has suggested that I be given a DREMEL for Christmas (with a little hint!). I need to know which one now. There does appear to be rather a lot of different sets so am asking the question....
Which one should I get?
Any help would be appreciated. Budget would be £150 ish.

I got a Dremel etching version which is rechargeable , then got the extra heads from maplins (non dremel) the dremel cost £50 and hasnt let me down yet

For that budget I should think that's top of the range stuff. I jealous already.
Have a look at Amazon's prices for bargains. :-))

If you can wait till the sales places like b+q sell of their unsold items.
They usually include top of the range Dremmel sets. That is how I bought mine.

Loads of Dremels here, though I would go for cordless.

The more expensive ones are better.
I would also try Amazon as they tend to be the cheapest.

You dont need Dremel accessories as the Rotacraft ones are a lot cheaper and they fit the Dremel.

Dont contemplte the Rotacraft drills as the are very under powered.

maplins do a decent drill at a very reasonable price, then you can get the accessory set too, I have bought the mains drill, accessories, and the smaller 18v mini grinder set, branded everise, probably totalling about half your budget, they work very well, though 2 things I havent yet got are a drill stand / drill press, and a flexible drive shaft. (the only downside was the collet that was in the drill when it arrived was out of true, all the rest were perfect so it may just have been there for transport / testing)

definately look at a set of the diamond tipped burrs as they are good for fibreglass and dont blunt.

Tht is the one I have , seems good enough quality havent destroyed a cutting disc yet , well worth it in my opinion

Hankering after the cordless one at the moment or a version of it. Can just remember that I had a Draper one some years ago and it was not really satisfactory (being polite here!)

Keep your eye on Aldi as they often have Dremmel type tools and accessories and are of good quality and reasonably priced.They Both Mains and Cordless

They still have some left at my Aldi store and they are only £9.99. I keep thinking what a bargain, but I have two already and they are still working.

having bought myself a new dremel 300 late last year and had nothing but shaft bearing problems with them ( had it replaced three times on warranty ) i replaced it this summer with the new ryobi version , it retails at around £50 , the kit includes a flexidrive , and tool stand . jon
