I am going to build an Arab Dhow for my next project. From plans MM2097
I need recommendations for an auxiliary motor, ESC if needed, prop, and propshaft, batteries etc.
I am looking at spending the minimum.
She will be 72 cm long overall (50cm at CWL)
14cm beam
7 cm draft.
Primary propulsion will be sail.
What do you guys recommend. Main aim is cheap and cheerful

Mobile Marine Models do a reliable motor about the same physical size as a 480, but loads of power, I havew one driving a 55mm prop in a river launch. they are about a tenner and bryan does the coupling as well.

For a boat of this size and type, a 15 volt 385 type run on about 6 volts should be very adequate. Dhows rarely planed. Prop? Anything that looks sensible.
If its really just aux. power to limp back, it needs nothing more than a servo motor driving a small home-made prop. The small prop should minimise the drag when not being used, the very modest power consumption could be provided for from a 4 or 5 cell RX pack.
