This to be .gif with transparency background.

Its an old saying.
Beware of geeks bearing .gifs
Sorry.

That's got to be the joke of the year!
Martin
I'll have a try at putting an image together for you -
what is the font you've used?
Richard
-
Try this
-
One with the exclamation mark . . .
-
That looks a lot better, thanks Richald!
If you want to have a muck about with that a bit more, even come up with something new...! :-))
( preferred size: 450 x 60 )

Miss read... thought it said gi**ls and transparency.....
Never mind....keep source formating.....
(a PPT gag you know)
And you could try a bitmap....low res though...
-
No problem Martin !
- I tend to keep the image size as large as possible
and only reduce it as the last operation - it reduces the
possibilty of ending up with an image with too low a resolution
what have you got in mind ? - is it to be a banner or something ?
I'll resize it for you and have a look at other formats/designs

Perhaps a really distinctive spiffy typeface, rather than the usual Arial types, which would also be an enhancement to the site. O0 O0
-
Windings perhaps? %% %% %%
Unfortunatly they won't print here.
-
Might be a bit too long...
-
Been having a play on cooltext.com (http://cooltext.com). Anyone can go onto the site, find an suitable logo as a starting point, and then play with any of the settings to customise it. In the best Blue Peter tradition, here's a few I made earlier...

I bow to adross/Andy's abilities here....
(or should it be cooltext.com's abilities ?)
Andy - don't you ever go to bed at night? %% (judging by the times of your posts!)

Or you could go for a completely new look that fits in with the colour of the forum.......

I Like that :-)) :-)) :-))
Plain and to the point

Yes indeed. I like the last one as well. Sort of Classy. :-))

I do like some of the ones adross has put up particulary the metallic ones, but I think the better looking sites at the moment are the uncluttered ones.
Thread Icons need looking at as well..

OK, lets make this a competition! :-)
Submit your entries and most popular wins!
( Req; 450 x 60, Transparency background, must be .gif )

I lost track of time a little bit!. Just thought it might be good for everyone to wake up to some examples to look at, and with the addition of the website link, it meant that absolutely everyone can have a go - Which I think Martin has picked up on!.
For reference, they look different again when placed on a background, and I've added a blank section below to copy and paste, if anyone wants it...
-
As a matter of interest Martin, how does any prospective banner fit in with the other board themes that are being used, will you need separate versions for those?
-
Has to be a .gif & have Transparency background as it displays differently with your own screen size resolution, browser and colour depth settings, etc.
There are currently 3 different 'themes' to choose from, so I just copy it on the server to each theme image folder.
-
Hi,
My very humble attempt.
I reserve the right to change it if I have time?
Regards
-
Nice one that rickles ! Mind you, if we really want to go flashy, we could do something like this... {-) Oh and obviously the blue background is just temporary, the gif itself is the size stated by Martin. :embarrassed:

You might win the £ with that Mike.

What about adding some waves and a boat cruising to and fro.
Ps,Martin, That dratted little square ( that cold be an apostrophe ) is still showing up.
-
Just done my last to check on the pound sign which now appears albeit in a little white box. apostophes are''' here.

Why don't you have a go? Even if it's not done as a .gif, I think some other formats can be converted.

Well, if you take my original banner
(http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s253/Artistmike/mayhemanim.gif)
and then add the ideas of Big Ada and boatmadman, you end up with something like this......
again the main background blue is just there temporarily .... :D
-
Actually, when it's up top it would probably look better this way round.... :((

Hi,
The ones with the animations are good.
Here is my non animated one.

This is weird, I'm quoting myself but I need to clarify something...
The background sample I posted, was purposely larger than the size Martin specified. I did it like this, so that if somebody made a heading of the correct size (450 x 60), as shown by all of Mike's (artistmike) designs, they could drop it onto a larger section of background to get the overall effect.
Hence the reason I also included an example of a design I'd previously posted (with a transparent background), to show the difference it made when dropped onto the blue bar.
I've attached an updated version with a faint frame indicating the maximum extent of a proposed design.
