Title: Canon Powershot camera S95 S100 S110
Post by: Martin (Admin) on November 15, 2012, 01:50:35 am

Has anyone got experience of the Canon Powershot S range?
S95 S100 S110

I'm very interested in the 'famed' low light capabilities, ie f2.0.

Martin,

The S95 is a superb little camera, producing pin sharp photos in low light. I know of some Pros who use them as back up cameras. The other two are basically replacements to the S95, so should be an improvement.

Also take a look at the Nikon P300 or P310. This has a super fast f1.8 lens, which is incredible in low light, especially when using the cameras stabilization system. They are also cheaper than the Canon. It then becomes a case of which you prefer when handling.

Had a S110 , great camera but after two yeasrs of getting knocked about on trawlers it gave up the ghost, but produced great pictures for a compact , upgraded to a panasonic lumix g10, but got a leaflet from Maplins yesterday witH A PANASONIC LUMIX FS40 I think for £74 which is a great deal

That might be a different S110, the Canon Powershot S110 has only just been released.

( "released"!! ... like it something important! )

my bad Martin but you are right it was this http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_SX100_IS/   (http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_SX100_IS/)http://www.canon.co.uk/Images/PS%20SX100IS%20(200)_tcm14-455420.jpg    (http://www.canon.co.uk/Images/PS%20SX100IS%20(200)_tcm14-455420.jpg)
Great camera but would pick a lumix now as a compact

http://www.maplin.co.uk/panasonic-fs40-14-million-pixel-camera-black-670696 is a fine buy but as I have a decent camera on my phone I seldom carry a full size one now

There is a world of difference between that old S110, the Panasonic Lumix and the newer models S110 and the Nikons. The latest have full manual control and are aimed at photographers who want the extra control. They also have higher resolution sensors. In short it is like comparing a Jaguar to a Fiat.....Sorry wbeedie, but it is true..
