I've found a feature on my computer that might be of interest to you all.
When Viewing 'You Tube' on the full screen setting, it is possible to jump the film forward by using the right arrow key instead of the mouse. If pressed quickly you can proceed through the film at 3 second intervals. Conversely, if you hold the right arrow down the film will keep jumping forward until you let go. It doesn't work on the small size screen.
It also works in rewind.
Anyone have any other tips on button pushing. ????
Cheers

Kenny, I just tried your trick on my Mac. It works, and it also works on the small frame size, too. Thanks very much!

Typifies current situation with Forum errors, photos, etc etc %) %) %)

Space bar to pause play ! O0
-
Alt+PrintScreen to copy the current window rather than the whole screen.
-
You know how when you COPY and PASTE from a webpage or some e-mails or even just another part of the same document, and it brings the formatting over and messes up your composition?
So then you open Notepad, do a PASTE, followed by a SELECT-ALL, then a COPY, and then back to where you wanted to be earlier to PASTE ... again. Or you spend time redoing the formatting.
No?
Then you won't want to look at PureText:
http://www.stevemiller.net/puretext/ (http://www.stevemiller.net/puretext/)
I've been using it for many years (works fine on a 64bit W7) with Control+Insert - I think I actually use it more than Ctrl+V.

esc button stops any gif files (eg the props in tug kenneys little picture)
but if you refresh the page they start up again (also freezes all these moving adverts)

While on the internet and you ever get a 'Pop UP' or 'Pop Under', usually a full screen
advert and it says "Click here to close this widow" etc -
DO NOT CLICK HERE!!!!
It usually a trick for you to download a virus, malware or some other such 'rubbish'.
Leave that window alone, DON'T click on anything in it!
Close everything else you have open in the usual way, then shutdown you PC.
Restart, clear your cache and do a full virus check.
I've had it twice in the last couple of weeks. >>:-(

I always think the best way is to just shut the PC down in a tidy manner, then restart. If I have a "work" program open, if there is a lot of "work" involved, yes shut and save, but generally, just let the system shut the lot down. And don't let the browser go to the last page when it offers.

When I press the right button on my mouse over some pictures, I used to get the option of 'Save image as' when I saw a picture or something worth keeping, but now it is doesn't give me the choice on certain sites. Is it possible they can block this feature ?

Yes it is.... but it's easily bypassed with "Alt - Print Screen", open mspaint, paste screen dump, crop as required and save. A bit more "faf" but still quite easy to do

Well done that man. :} I knew things had changed. It make this column wirth while. (now where's that spell checker !)

For Window users
XP = Windows logo + U + enter = shut down (if memory serves right
Vista + W7 = windows logo + L = log off
Vista + W7 = windows logo + o = Lock
Vista + W7 = windows logo + R = restart
Vista + W7 = windows logo + S = sleep
Vista + W7 = windows logo + u = shut down
note these are case sensitive (lock and shut down are lower case)

Just harking back to Martin's post 12 re two viruses in a couple of weeks.
I have had many years of virus free Internet and yet this year I am now on my fourth ransom virus. The first three I could reach safe mode with networking but this last on I can't. To make things worse I had begun backing up files earlier because I was having some big freeze shut start problems and my nephew Rob is due to have a look at that laptop problem.
What I just don't understand is why this year has been like this? The one good thing was a few viruses ago my wife was sat next to me when it all kicked off - so no embarrassing explanations were needed. Anyone hazard a guess why it is so bad this year and why my protections seem useless?

I think it is each time there is a "new OS" put out into the public domain the "rats" sit up and a plethora of spam spy-ware ad-ware and the inevitable viruses come to light in the hope that they will F### the users up (which they do)
My opinion :D

in outlook if you start typing a name then ctrl +k it will find the matching name in your contacts list - if more thann one match it gives you a selection list.
