Title: TT Victoria Yacht new build

I have recently aquired [at a good price] a Thunder Tiger Victoria yacht kit. I have to admit this is my first step in to "sail", so a lot [if not all ] is new to me. I have built many powered boats, so no stranger to powered water craft.
I have downloaded a lot of info from the "OMSA"/  Okanagan model sailboat association site, including some info on "Longbow option parts", but wondered if anyone has any build tips/suggestions they would be keen to share with me on this one.

This was my first sail Boat as well. I built it straight from the box. In hindsight, there are definite changes I would make
Change all rigging to heavyweight  fishing line. All cleat tie downs to the deck I would make through the deck not glued to the deck.
Definitely upgrade the mast it's very flimsy but does for a beginner.
And be very careful with the rigging runs, for a beginner they can get very tangled fast! I'm redoing all my Victoria now from the vuctoria resource pages and the one you mentioned.
 I'm not a race nut but the amendments are not to expensive and give you a better top deck which is strong. I would do the kit mast to begin but do the deck anchors as they do pull out after a few sails. A very worthwhile kit to build and I hope you have fun with her

I have ordered the rigging upgrade and mast upgrade from Longbow, their rigging lines are fine stainless steel wire, " tiger wire" i believe they call it, coated in plastic, plus they have the brass angle deck plates, bolted through the deck, which did look better in the pictures on their site. I thought these better option bits to fit to help keep everything bolted through, rather then self tappers in to...
I have made a start and added the additional support pieces to the keel floor to strengthen the base of the keel weight, plus added 2 supports from these plates to the underside of the main deck to keep the mast supported too.

This is the hull so far after adding the internal keel support.
also pictured are the Longbow options ive ordered.
Rigging kit
Boom adjuster
Adjustable main mast plate
 
Oh yes, and the servo/battery tray, lightened a little as per the Canadian options.

This is what I did with mine copying some of the Longbow ideas but using carbon fibre instead of arrow shafts.
The sails are also a great improvement.

FYI

  Nylet advertise replacement sails for the Victoria. Probably cheaper than those advertised on the Longbow site and no international shipping/import duty issues either

  Does any Uk club race Victorias as a local class ?

I will probably try a replacement set of sails, but will build with the originals first and try the boat out, afterall, unless I try it "from the box", I'm no going to notice any difference with a set of "better" sails.
