From a scientific report done on these catfish in France I think. I know that these Wels can get big and many anglers go to France to get the big ones. They have even been known to attack humans but I've never seen this behaviour before, quite astounding really....

Seen a Fully grown Duck dissapear in front of me whilst fishing at a local lake,It was taken by a Catfish one of 2 that were stocked into the lake around 15 years ago at approx 12lb....I know this as I was helping the owner to do so,One has been caught this year at 46lb,there are catfish in another lake and it is not uncommon to see a duckling dissapear.

I believe the record for a Wels on rod and line is in the region of 250 lbs..... that's a big fish to get in fresh water....
