WOW,
A large box arrived this morning containing the mouldings from Bosun ( member on here) for his 1930s Trawler.
A large rusty red Hull with all other mouldings in grey. Ive used hull mouldings from most of the suppliers here in UK over the last 28 years ( !! ) and i must say this is the best of them by a long way. Crisp details over the whole length, and you havnt got to trim the top of the bulwarks for the capping rail to get it level........... its moulded in !
Being a luddite when it comes to posting pics on here, i will give a link to the ad on his website. Highly recommended if you are looking for a big trawler, and id think that the other hulls listed are just as good.

Thats the only info I can find, can't find any other photos of her than the ones I've listed
-
my mate trawlerman will be pleased.....he's thinking of buying one of these when he's finished his drifter.......will you be posting a build log please.
neil.
-
thanks Dave......... ive not found anything else either.
Neil its my intention, with the use of a lot of fittings, to "do" her as she was in her Anti Submarine role during WW2. Though ive yet to find even one picture.

Lovely clear pic , thankyou rotty
-
if you know her class then it may widen your search to her sister ships , some of those may have been converted to ASW as well , i know it may not be your ship but it could give an idea as to how she may have appeared as an ASW trawler
-
many thanks Stormbringer, she was an individual boat impressed into service rather than one of a class built for the job. Ive been informed of an out of print book that is available, ( whatever did we do before Ebay and amazon ?) that may have a picture. Its ordered and i will let everyone know soonest.
-
ahh pity she had no sister's , really hope you get a picture from the book tho
i used the cover picture from Trawlers go to war for my scratch built freelance ASW trawler
-
I heard the cover was the drifter Mun or Young Mun. I think I have found the text but no pictures at http://www.harry-tates.org.uk/tgtw.html

So what motor are you intending to use on this big beast Rob?
-
Looks an impressive kit. Will look forward to a build thread.
-
Norseman, the book that you mention is a very good listing of requesitioned trawlers ...... but alas very few pictures.
Mikerace, a 900 type with an 80mm Propshop 4 bladed piece of cast elegance behind..
Justboatonic..... im always wary of starting a build thread until i have a couple of months worth of pictures already taken, I find that SWMBO always wants redecorating/rebuilding works doing around the house. ( if i put pics on as i did them , you would all know that she has made me stop and do other things instead of building the boat !)
-
I meant 70mm of course
-
Is there a build log in progress? :embarrassed:
-
good morning justboatonic,
yes there will be soon, ive got the motor in, and deck supports done......... and SWMBO has come up with the classic , " another boat ? looks like the hall and landing need redecorating" I take it noone wants to hear of my wallpaper stripping adventures .
As soon as i get started on the boat again, i promise pics and words.
