Title: New on deck!
Post by: pdq on December 30, 2012, 02:45:36 pm
Hello all, just introducing myself as a new member to the forum. My name is Paul and i live in Barnet but originally hail from Southampton where i developed a love for all things marine. I am a reasonably experienced modeller of static kits but i have been itching to try my hand with RC models. I hated physics at school and did not pay attention to electrical theory, resistance and Ohms law so you can guess where my questions will be headed....... Not being put off by my lack of knowledge i intend to build Caldercraft's Joffre, so if any of you have completed this fine model i would love to understand your running gear choices.
 :-)

lovely little model to build.....one or two little anomilies around the wheel house top, but nothing major.
I ran my model quite hapilly off a 385 motor direct linked without gearing with the white metal prop included in kit, and a 6volt battery with ( I think at the time) a Hitek esc, but any similar esc will do adequately.
a lovely little boat to sail, and on that set up a decent speed and good scale speed

Hi Neil thanks for the response and hello! I will look at that combination but currently (no pun intended) soaking up all info on batteries, motors and wiring! I have a brass prop so will use that. Paul
