Title: Paint
Post by: Vaas on January 11, 2013, 04:28:12 pm
Is enamel paint good for repainting a plastic hull? I havent painted ships before, as i have been doing plastic aircraft kits in the past, i have quite a bit of enamel left. Also, can I use the paint thinner from the paint shop or do i have to use a special type?
Thanks
Vaas

Given the choice, oil based enamel every time.  If the thinner in your shop is for that, no problem.
You do say repainting.  If it was previously painted with something else, there could be a problem in store.  Being a user of a hair, rather than air, brush, I have never really felt the need for thinning.

Match the thinners to the paint. Enamel paints are fine for boats both wood and plastic but wood should be primed first.
