Folks it is with great sorrow that I have to tell you that my friend and an original Mayhemmer, Peter Henshaw has passed away last night. He had broken a leg on December 17 but other complications claimed him. His wife Jackie has hardly left his bedside for a month. I can't bring myself to say another word just now.

To Jackie
I am sorry to hear of Peter's passing and regarded him as a good friend. Also the help and information he gave to me and his help in designing and making parts for my model of the Meteor. I did miss those long telephone calls with bags of modelling info as I have had more downs than ups over the last few years making it hard to communicate with people. My condolences.
Peter's brasswork which I admired

He had an irreplaceable amount of knowledge which he gave to the forum and to all his friends here. He would help and share his knowledge and skill in a caring way. RIP Peter. Aye John

I sat at the keys wondering what to type, what can I say, I great friend, very clever engineer, a very dry sense of humour who enjoyed a good banter, so talented, he was my mentor and friend for many years and will be sadly missed, I was lucky to see him only a few days ago, at least he is finally out of pain
Another example of his brilliance

Very sad news to here of Peter, knew Peter in the 70's both of us members of the Liverpool Model Boat Club, we both went in different directions and meet again at the Model Boat Convention 2 years ago. Though he had not been to the lake for sometime had always remained a member of the Club.
Always one to give good advice, and fun to talk to....will miss the chats and e-mails
Thoughts go to Jackie and family

I am very sorry to hear that Peter is no longer with us, we exchaged a few emails but never met.. I was having trouble with a new brushless ESC and Peter offered to send me one he was not using to help eliminate the Fault. It arrived promptly I sorted out the problem (RC) and sent it back with a thanks. Nice practical help which is perhaps unexpected but promotes trust and friendship.
A great guy.

Very sad to hear this news, Peter was undoubtedly a fantastic engineer with a huge amount of knowledge. He was one of the key contributors to both this website and my own. I think most of us can say we've benefited from his advice at some point.

On behalf of myself and the members of the Liverpool Model Boat Club our condolences go out to Jackie and family.
Peter was a founder member of the club. Due to his poor health he had not attended the lake for a few years, but he contacted me about this time of year to pay his subscrptions. I often emailed him to ask about various build problems I was having and he always came up with a good solution.
Rest In Peace Peter you will forever be in our memories and build some Fireboats up there.

Hello Folks
Here are the details directly from Jackie for Peter's funeral arrangements.
Springwood Crematorium at 12.30 on this coming Monday - Rosemary Chapel. Afterwazrds to The Police Club.
Springwood Crematorium. Address: Springwood Avenue, Woolton, Liverpool, L25 7UN
Merseyside Police Sports and Social Club Riversdale Rd, Aigburth, L19 3QN
Recently we had some time without posts for Dicky D's passing. I'm not convinced that Peter would want that. He loved Mayhem and the members activities, he was so helpful to people (often quietly behind the scenes) and he gave me as a newbie a huge helping hand .... Actually two plus his workshop ... Well yes often with parts and materials too :embarrassed: I think Peter would just like you to continue to be helpful but maybe to a newbie on Monday. Paul (Red 181) earlier called Peter his mentor and I feel the same way. That is a fine indicator of Peter's stature when grown men can regard him in that light whilst at the same time enjoy being such good friends with him.
I live in Huyton and if there is an old friend of Peter's (or two of you) who wish to attend but cannot because of transport - well I would be happy to pick you up / drop you back home. Only a little Punto lads but the offer is there if you pm me.

Hi folks
Peter's funeral was well attended by friends and family; the service went off well too. Jackie and Andrew both gave and received support from all. I and Paul (Red181) represented the Mayhem family today.
However Peter being beeping Peter, absolutely had the last laugh O0
The service progressed with words of comfort and memories. All was as you would hope it to be and then arrived the moment for the hymn or that particular favourite tune to ring out and touch that something that makes us human. The scene is set just as he knew it would be
Ber Ber - Bump Bump Bump Bump
ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST .... !!!!
Never before has my face tried to cry and laugh simultaneously. Peter certainly achieved the last laugh on everyone O0 He was my mate and I will miss his divilish humour and cantankerous facade. He was a lovely man - not a bad epithet that.

Please could you pass on my condolences. I know exactly what his family are going through, but with the help of family and friends they will come through one day at a time. I found that reading all the messages from the forum for DickyD was a great help.
