Now I would like to point out a major grammatical error here which could be linked to the previous education topic. As this thread appears to be constructed of postings by many Daves, shouldn't the title be The Daves' Thread with the apostrophe after the s of the plural Daves?  I'm not a Dave by the way. Heheheh.

HMS David Ogilvie (FY 720) was a MS Trawler. Displacement: 276 tons. Taken over by the Admiralty in September 1939. Returned to her owner in July 1946.

HMS St David was a 54-gun fourth rate launched in 1667. She foundered in 1690, was raised in 1691 and hulked, and finally sold in 1713

HMS St David is the name given to a number of tenders of the south Wales Royal Naval Reserve unit, later HMS Flying Fox:
HMS St David was a converted minesweeper launched in 1972 as the commercial trawler Suffolk Monarch. She was converted and commissioned into the Severn RNVR in 1978 and was returned to her original owner in 1983. She was converted into an oil rig safety/standby vessel.

Two ships of the Royal Navy have been named HMS Milne, after Vice-Admiral Sir David Milne:
HMS Milne was an Admiralty M-class destroyer launched in 1914 and sold in 1921.
HMS Milne was a M-class destroyer launched in 1941 and sold to the Turkish Navy in 1959.
She was renamed Alp Arslam and was discarded in 1970.

The first Upholder (P37), launched in 1940, was a U-class submarine. She served in World War II. Her Captain was Lieutenant Commander David Wanklyn who received the Victoria Cross whilst in command of the vessel.
HMS Upholder was the most decorated submarine in the British fleet.
