Thanks Derek, and a happy Australia Day to all our Aussie members from me, too O0

It's not a good day for those in a large area of Queensland who are enduring torrential rain - again! The Gladstone region has had over 30 inches of rain in the last 36 hours, and other places are receiving similar amounts. The bad news for me is - it's heading our way :o  but hopefully the system will weaken before it reaches here.

And a Happy Australia Day from me as well.
Lets face it, the First Fleet nearly did not survive.   I have an English newspaper which published two letters from Port Jackson (Sydney) the first details the loss of the Sirrius on Norfolk Island and the other the conditions in New South Wales.   Hopefully you can read it.
If it had not then we would be speaking French as our native language.

The lower case letter of 's' was written as'f' where as the upper case of the letter 'S' was written as 'S' ........
no wonder we as convicts failed our E >>:-( nglish written word tests at sea en route from the Olde Dart

I heard on TV that the early Australian settlers were carefully selected by some of the finest judges in England {-)
