Title: "Noisy thing"
Post by: Maverickuk01 on January 26, 2013, 07:58:02 am
I have been looking at this piece of kit available from Components. Has anyone fitted one yet, if so could they give me some feedback. I want to fit sound to my Perkasa and being able to download my own sounds is very appealing. However with limited knowledge of electric I dont want to spend a lot of money on a system which is not so good or difficult to fit and wire up. Any reviews would be very welcome

Over 400 sold since its introduction in 2010, including many to Mayhem members. No knowledge of electronics is required, but it helps to have basic PC skills and be willing to follow the instructions if you wish to install your own sounds. The only other comparable unit is the Graupner one, but the instructions are in German only.

And the Graupner unit is almost double the price once you add the amplifier

Thanks guys. They say they will have some units on display at the exhibition in Manchester in March. As I am going anyway I will have a look.

Model solutions also make a sound unit. The component shop unit appears good value. But you need a speaker, an amplifier, and possibly the switcher module for the extra sounds. Maplins amps are far cheaper than the componet store ones. John.

In the end it is after all the quality of the over all sound you will be looking for. You can change every sound on the p100 & it is programmed with sounds that are all real & original, not tinny artificial sounds that only bear a distant relationship to the true sound on the P100, good enough for me anyway, thanks ACTion & Dave too.Mick B.

They are both good guys & don't worry I don't get a discount for saying nice things about them but I feel we should recommend the good guys & warn about the bad guys, Mick B.
