What can I use to thin sanding sealer?

Depends on what it's based on, if cellulose then standard cellulose paint thinners

 Sanding sealer is a pre- primer. So sand the wood to the best finish you can and then
 'slap on a coat' of sanding sealer and Gently sand again.  You'll soon be able to
 tell if it needs another coat.  ok2

 Remember your sanding (and sealer) IS the finished surface, all the paint does is change the colour!

The sanding sealer I have comes from Cornwall model boats and is labelled JP.... its xylene based so I use Xylene as a thinner.... this stuff really smells bad and the smell lingers so use outside if possible.
I normally thin mine down to with about 30% extra xylene for the first coat, this makes it really soak into the wood. then once dry another coat of undiluted SS and then sand, applying another coat if needed.
