Correct, Fire Control console.
One of these British units, used by Commonwealth countries, until till early sixties where upon missiles replaced the Guns.

Hello,
Picture of a 3Mk7 Mortar locating Radar, with a Meadows generator.
Used in Germany by 94 Regiment Royal Artillery, was replaced by a new Radar, "Green Archer" in 1963.
I spent hundreds of hours cooped up in one !!!!!!!.

I think we were still using the generators in the early 90s in BAOR. We used them to provide power to the CP and mobile workshops.

Yes Australia also converted the Radar AA No.3 Mk7 to mortar locating, until they were replaced by American radars in ViteNam.
The Radar AA No.3 Mk7, was withdrawn from Australian Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiments in 1963, when the regiments were coverted to Light Anti-Aircraft and thence disbanded, into field regiments, 25 pounders.
Does anyone know where to get drawings to enable the making of a scale model of the Radar.
Because the 3 Mk7 was "British" there are no drawings available in Australia either from RAE (Engineers), RAEME (electrical, mechanical engineers) or RRAA (Australian artillery) museums.

Hello,
We were required to watch and give grid references of a Parachute drop by hundreds of Yanks.
Got all set up, along came the planes, about a dozen of them, out came the Paras, all floating gently to earth.
The Radars went crazy !!!, tracking back and forth along this great long line of bodies and metal bits.
Our set was trying to lock onto thousands of targets all at once !!.
All we could do was give a Compass Bearing and say it happened "over there"!!!.
Good laugh tho !.

They would have been better using the Tactical Radar (TC) 4 Mk1 (Canadian) instead of the more precise fire control (FC) 3 mk7, as it was designed for locking onto and tracking a target then sending current data to the predictor.
Nowdays, computer, which predicted the future position of the target and at which point the guns were aimed and engaged the plane.
