PS - If you navigate about his site, you will also find a build blog about the TT Lines ferry Peter Pan - and this one is R/C!!!

Thanks Carl........the build site log is interesting....complete with inward facing props for FWD motion..which is different to what I had assumed from the image of outward facing props for FWD motion.........as shown here courtesy of Tug_Kenny (http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/avatars2/avatar_852.gif).... :o .....
We should get Ken to put a series of these images up so we can all copy........makes explanations so.....easy O0 ............Derek

Such attention to detail & the workmanship is first class as well. I know Carlmt was working on a kit for a ferry, my question to you Carlmt is how is it coming along. Several of us are very interested in your kit & I am sure would like the chance to build it given the op-pertunity. Mick B.

yep, i'm also looking forward the townsend thoresen kit when ready :-))
-
Hi Mick, Hi Waxy.....yes, the Free Enterprise V is getting there - I promise!!!
Just sent the drawings for the superstructure parts to the laser-cutting specialist for a trial run...Paying him a visit next Tuesday. Drawings for the 3D printer are being done next week to produce the masters for the fittings.
Will post update on the relevent thread very soon :-)) :-)) :-))
Many thanks for all your support and patience folks........really appreciate it O0 O0

Hi Carl,
thank you for posting the link to Family Pepers' homepage with those photos Mr. Peper's beautiful ferry models.
They are indeed pieces of great workmanship of scale model ship building from scratch with great attention to detail.
Only thinking of all those windows they must really have been prone to lose one's sanity while cutting, honing and framing them.
Compared to the maddening Sisyphus toil Mr. Peper must have gone through completing this model reconstructing an approximation of PRINCESS SEAWAY's ex PETER PAN's hull lines from the Hansa article with her description was nothing but a snap rendition in DELFTship.
When the ship was still servicing the Travemünde-Trelleborg route as PETER PAN I had seen her many times either calling at or leaving Travemünde during my frequent summer holidays at the Lübecker Bucht.
But I have to admit that from an aesthetic point of view I was never that much fond of her, for I feel that she is too squat and squarish with that enormous box-like superstructure.
She has a pronounced bulb and extreme flare in the fore ship.
For those of you interested in the complete (unfortunately only in German) article from Hansa, from whose accompanying small general arrangement plan I approximated her lines,
I have posted it here (http://slipway.in-berlin.de/maritime/ships/peter_pan/).
And here are the hydrostatic particulars by DS for an assumed design draught of 6.5 m (http://slipway.in-berlin.de/maritime/ships/peter_pan/PETER_PAN_DWL_Hydrostats.html).

Lovely piece of artwork there Ralph :-))
I am always amazed at what you do with DELFTship......I just wish I had more time to learn it!!!
And that Hansa article drawings are just what is needed to get a project off the ground O0 O0 . I am guessing that Hansa is the German equivalent of our Motor Ship magazine?
On a DELFTship matter, did you get my last email about SOFE and European Enterprise (Gardenia)?
That Peter Pan model certainly looks a work of art - but I wonder how she would sail in even a moderate breeze?
Take care

1m in length would make a nice model for a gauge N (1:160) model railway.
@Carl: Yes, I have received your last email.

On the homepage of family Peper there was a page with many interesting links.
Among them one linked to the website of the FINNJET Historical Society.
(isn't it intriguing that these days a rather contemporary ferry commissioned in 1977 and scraped in 2008 already spawns a historical society?)
Nonetheless, the vessel was certainly a milestone in modern fast Ro-Pax Ferry design and seems to always have had a considerable fan base.
Interestingly to us model boaters, the Society's website hosts besides a lot of information and memorabilia about FINNJET also a section where one can download PDFs of the GAP (http://finnjet.fi/modules/wfdownloads/viewcat.php?cid=4).
Though I never have been such a big fan of FINNJET (to have felt the urge to become part of such followership, or to have bemoaned the scrapping of her) the sheer availability of her GAP on the Net triggered my interest as of having a go at her lines in DS.
I arrived at a block coefficient under 0.54 (http://slipway.in-berlin.de/maritime/ships/finnjet/FINNJET_DWL_Hydrostats.html) which I deem quite reasonable for a high speed displacement ferry like FINNJET.
When I mentioned that PETER PAN had quite a flare in the bow sections FINNJET even tops this, for her bow lines at the focsle are even semi-circle.
The Wikipedia article about GTS FINNJET (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GTS_Finnjet) also is quite a good reference to the ship.

Hi Ralph
you delf ships draws are great. You have done her bow very well. I was on a Silja ferry in winter talking to the captian about ice. He said in the good old days thay used to wait for Finnjet and then try and keep up with her. She colud go through 90cms of ice which is real good given the shap of her bow.
Finnjet a ROPAX no no no she is a RORO and the first cruise ferry. She is still the fastest prop driven car ferry at 33.5 knots at 75% power. Her gearboxs could not handel 100% power.

The site is in Danish, but the pictures says it all.

The site - http://www.familiepeper.com/42245.html (http://www.familiepeper.com/42245.html) - is not working.
I talked to the owner of the model - http://seaways-model.com/ (http://seaways-model.com/) - and there will be posted new pictures as building progresses. This is a completely new build - started March 2013 - compared to the previous build mentioned on http://www.familiepeper.com/42245.html. (http://www.familiepeper.com/42245.html)
If the language is a problem please use Google Translate on the site.

An update (24 AUG 2013) with lots of pictures also showing both model and original together.
