As I was saying I decided to build a one meter yacht that was early in the new year and work is in progress, (by the way my aviator flip 90o when I uploaded it need some help to sort it out please) so far I built two hulls over a set of shadows (bulkheads) I have fibreglassed inside & out, made the keel blade, also turned patterns for the lead keel weight tomorrow I hope to cast some molds Is say molds because I intend to cast three different sizes, In the mean time I have been making turnbuckles still got a few to make. As I said in my first post when I drew the outline of my boat on the building board I knew nothing about the parameters of the different classes of racing yachts and quite frankly it dosent really matter as I have no interest in competition as it sufficient for me to design a craft that I hope will perform reasonably well. The dimensions of my boat are 1M X 255 X 120 the blade is 446 X 80mm plus the bulb
. Now its time to start asking questions 1. is there a optimum center of gravity in boats, 2. I have some 1.3M X 10mm fibreglass rods will they be long enough for masts they weigh appox, 8ozs. 3. At what % from the bow should I place the mast and blade.
As I have stated previously I know nothing but have plenty of ideas.
Feel free to have a laugh on me I probably deserve it.

Crumbs those turnbuckles must take a bit of work? They look damn good and probably a lot cheaper than buying them!

Hi Wayne
Yes they are a little time consuming but I've managed to make 4 in a day %% as I am retired times free. I turned them out of 5/16 brass rod used a 4BA tap & die and brazing rod for the hook to which I silver soldered a tiny brass bush.

Hi all
Over the last couple of days I've been fixing the fins in the boats. i had a bit of trouble with the resin leaking out of the bottom and into the mast box but I got there in the end. today I have been messing about with a pulley wheel for the closed loop on the winch, I included a better view of the size of the buckles I made.

Hi
Hi all
After fitting the fin complete with a paper rap protected with cling film and release agent, pouring the resin and waiting the prescribed time I was ready to remove the fin of cause the fin refused to budge even after using gallons of water on the release agent. Time to put the thinking cap on I came up with this idea. I fixed the fin in the vice loosely clamped two blocks against the hull inserted two wedges between the vice and the blocks I was then able to apply the big hammer technical knowledge to effect a separation
