Title: Gas Turbine Bluebird K7 amazing flycam shots
Post by: Leovilla on February 26, 2013, 02:54:45 pm
Hi. My son has uploaded onto youtube some new footage of the gas turbine Bluebird I made some years ago. This time he fitted several flycams to get some interesting shots. For those interested in fast electrics he has also put on some footage of my Hydro and Marine blackbird fitted with up to date motor etc. Also a 20 year old GRM hydro running with up to date motor etc.

BTW some of you may remember I was banned by the MPBA some years ago. No longer any issues I can re join when I wish. :-) Not interested in racing any more- too old with health problems but the draw of the fast stuff wont go away so I run them at the local club.

Beautiful Model.
I love the sound from the camera placed at the intake.

It is also interesting to see the perspec diverters along the sponsons to
reduce the water ingestion. Was water ingestion a big concern, or just a nuisance?
I do, however, prefer a panoramic verses a "vertical video"...  %)

Thank you for posting the video link.

Hi Ernie,
I am so glad to hear that you are a bit better and back into the fast stuff, I don't know if you remember but you helped me with some questions when I built my  Touchwood 1/12  K7 which was very successful and still going strong.

I have 5 videos on you-tube of K7 the one starting with Glasgowrichmond is on NimH and the others with Lipo's, the 3s lipo's are pushing it along at 40 m.p.h. http://www.youtube.com/user/ooyah2/videos.

You may recall that I spoke to you some years ago at Windermere where I ran my Flash Steamer OOYAH for the first time.
Ihas now been developed quite a bit and is going in excess of 45 m.p.h, unfortunately on R/C it's a bit dangerous so it's laid up at present.
It's listed in the R &D section under " OOYAH A FLASH STEAMER "

Kindest regards and I hope that you continue to improve.

George

Hello George. Yes I recall your flash steamer at Windermere during one of those lovely weekends my wife and I used to enjoy. An interesting boat for sure. I have seen the videos of your Touchwood K7, goes very well. I think I helped around 6 people with that model and know they all run well. Mine Touchwood K7 is owned by my Grandson who is 6 years old. Its in his bedroom and he talks to it which is a bit of a worry. %% His dad , my eldest son, now has the gas trubine K& I built. Hew runs it from time to time. The next time is the 4th January 2017. :-)

My health is not that much better so I just do what I can when I can. I do'nt think I can make anything like the gas turbine K7 again, I see it as the pinnacle of my modelling career. Sadly during one of the periods of my black dog I sold most of the
collection of water speed record boats I made including Slo Mo, Miss Bud, Spirit of Australia and Crusader. I have done some bad things in my life during black periods but selling them has to rank as the daftest.
I enjoyed meeting you George and am pleased you are still very much an active modeller. :-)

The water deflectors are exact scale and as fitted on 4th January 1967 during Donald Campbells fatefull last runs. They were needed on the full size boat and the model which is as near scale as I could get it following visits to the wreck where I was allowed to photograph and measure it in detail. (Thanks to Gina Campbell and Bill Smith who is restoring the boat)
