>>:-( Hi,Graham, sometimes you are so glad to get a job you don't know what you are letting yourself in for,I once worked for a boss from
hell,he told me in the interview that the job involved working some overtime,I ended working 7 days a week every week, I told him that in 4 weeks
time I needed the weekend off for a wedding in the family, 2 days before the weekend he told me about a job to be done that sat and sun
when I explained that I would not be there to do it he went into one ranting and raving that I had let him and the company down. This man
bullied everyone in the maintenance dept. but not me, I told him to make up my money as I was giving a weeks notice, I worked for that guy
every weekend for 6 months without a day off, when was I going to some time off, sometimes it is better to walk away from a job than being
unhappy,hope you get another job soon,Ray. >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(

Probably why the job was vacant in the first place Graham - unfortunately, and because of the employment and economic situation, there seems to be a trend for employers returning to the old bowler hat and stick bull boy brigade - the floggings will continue until morale improves!
You may be well out of that one Graham. I do wish you sincere good luck for the future, regards, Tony.
-
:-)) Hi,Tony, I forgot to mention that I have worked for some great people in the past so they are out there, just got find them,Ray.
-
unlucky about the job graham. I got employed last week after a year, they offered me a job without an interview. Its ok at the minute i just hope it doesnt go sour. (touch wood)

In their wisdom the job centre sent my son for an interview for a driving job, he told them it was a waste of time as he hasn,t got a driving licence, they said if he didn,t attend they would stop his job seekers allowance....This is what your up against....Rod %% %%

I long for the day my job becomes vacant {:-{
However the vacancy in my head is coming along nicely. :-))
Seriously though, much better to have a job whilst looking for another. You get an employment record with less gaps. Life and employers can be unfair but that's the way it is. Though the job market is very hard these days, people are successful every day, so let's hope it's your day soon Graham.

Are there opportunities for you to volunteer in your area?
It costs nothing but your time, as most organisations cover expenses for volunteers. This could be anything from sorting mail in a post office to volunteering in a local council dept.
Alternatively you could find voluntary work in a boatyard or similar, if boats are your thing- show a little bit of willing, offer to make the teas for the day and do the sweeping up, within a month if you can move onto something with a tool in your hand you are gaining something that is worth far more than money to a potential employer- experience.
It can be very hard work not going home with a wage, but it can also be a very satisfying and rewarding experience, and 'employers' that you volunteer for often find ways of rewarding you in other ways apart from a wage.
Best of luck in your search for employment.

You could always try giving an employer a reason to pick you out from similar applicants. Employers often need to comply with health and safety regs by supplying a first aider. One who holds a certificate for first aid at work. Maybe St Johns ambulance or the dole could help you get one. Just a thought - used my first aid many times outside work too; even a dog that the vet said would certainly have died.
