I know this is not model boating, but it is brilliant. I tracked my nieces plane coming back from Australia all the way until just before landing

Yes your right been useing it for years very frightening when you see how many planes are up in the air at the same time you just look at Europe on a busy day or time and makes you think do I realy want to fly. I can look out of my as I watch it on the computer at the same time as the airway upper bravo flys straight over my house.

its a great site i do the same thing look at the computer to see what planes will be next & then go in the garden to wait to see them come over most are going into heathrow about 10.000ft its great fun :-))

fascinating! I wonder if it will show search and rescue helicopters round the UK?

it do,s show the helicopters in scotland going to the oil rigs etc so the search & rescue may be on there (S.A.R choppers show up on the shipping ais site) the other thing to try when you click on a plane look at the left panel 'that comes up 'speed alt etc' click on cockpit view it gives you a cockpit view of that flight thats cool :-)) :-)) regards ray

I use Flightradar24 nearly every day. When I was in Sydney, under the flight path to runway 16R at Kingsford Smith Airport, I could track an aircraft then go outside and watch it go overhead (I was on holidays and didn't have much else to do :D )

I have done the same in my conservatory where they tend to be in front rather than directly above.

With the prevailing SW wind, we get incoming Stansted traffic more or less overhead, but its mainly Easy Jet and Ryanair so not very interesting {:-{ One good effect of the recent East and NE winds is no aircraft noise as they have turned out before they get to us :-)) :-))

I have an app on the iphone called plane finder that does a very similar thing.
My father is now a retired aircraft engineer, RAF for 22 years then civilian for the rest and he rarely goes outside without his binoculars for watching the planes going in and out of Gatwick.
In the summer he sits there watching them and saying what they aircraft they are and what airline. I sit there telling him the registration number, route, altitude, call sign Etc..... He wants an iphone now just for that! :-)
