We are lucky at New Brighton lake as anything that sinks can easily be retrieved by donning a pair of waders......

{:-{ I have had a few capsizes in my time but I have not lost a boat yet,bet I have put the mockers on it now there is always a first time.
I make my boats of wood and use plenty of floatation,I had one capsize last Sunday when the strong wind caught the superstructure
and it flip over but I managed to recover it with a 20ft pole( not a tall eastern europeon),Ray. %% %% %%

I haven`t lost a boat but when Grantham & district model boat club had there opening day,(over 15yrs ago)on there new pool a fellow member had a "missisippi paddler" he turned a bit to quick and she went down, but a quick thinking member jumped into the pool and saved the day by grabbing the paddle boat(all 4' 6" long and just as high)just as the paddle went below the water.

The first Mayhem weekend a certain tug had to check the bottom of the pond.

yep..................lost a Resolution submarine...the one and only sub I ever did or ever will build (after my elder sister likened it to a huge supository) in Fleetwood lake on it's maiden voyage..........

only got it back because a swan was pecking away at something bright and grabbed hold of it........it was the propellor and by luck, the swan lifted the stern as it held onto the bright shiney prop...........
another occasion of me going into the lake fully clothed.....must stop the habit, lol

have loved swans ever since,  %% %% %% %%

Speaking of sinkings at Wicksteed!  {-)
Nigel Marriott our lake manager found A66's missing cab hatch from the yacht sinking last year not so long ago, if A66 is going to the Mayhem, I'm sure Nigel will bring it with him.
Even after all the digging out we never did find my missing props!

With regards to almost sinkings my HMS Velocity Fast Attack Boat almost capsized last year during some rough weather and a few violent turns, she is almost 5ft long! :o  I thought I had lost her that day!

Well where do I start

Paula 3 sunk by an IDIOT at LLanberis lake
Police Boat guess what same IDIOT sank this one also...............not me but an idiot who rammed me

Bugsier lost at sea same lake...not mine
Boston Typhoon    lost at sea all hands lost.....not mine
Yacht ownwed by Robert Davies ....same lake
Northsider Owned by Don Brown .....lost at sea .....same lake
1 mtr Yacht....guess what same lake
Moonbeam sunk with no trace .....LLanberis lake.

These are the ones that I know of they are somewhere at the bottom of the lake but when it is 3/4 mile wide and 3 miles long with depths of 160 feet in places and on Av 6 meeters deep 15 feet out form the lake side.

Ah that's where he disappeared to! :D

Other than the 'sinkings' at Wicksteed during the mayhem weekends which were rescued by Dave or Phil, I have had a boat catch on fire! The cooling pipe got blocked by weed and allowed the motor to over heat and melt the speed controller. We only knew something was wrong when it stopped dead in the water and a poof of smoke came out of the fake periscope! We took the lid of to witness the interior disappear in smoke and flames!
