Title: USS Monitor
Post by: sam_h on May 27, 2007, 10:08:01 am
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some 1/48 scale Confederate soldiers for a model of the Monitor that I am hoping dad will allow me to make. Had a look on the local model shop website and couldn't see any and there is a vast range of models there.

Thanks
Sam

I thought the Monitor was playing on the Union side ?

It was a Union Vessel, the "Merrimac" Later named CSS Virginia) was the Confederate version.

Unless you are already committed to 1:48, I suggest you go to 1:32. This is the most popular scale for military miniatures (54 mm figures) and the list for ACW is endless. Nothing much in 1:48 scale.

Sorry, I would love to make a 1/32 but it would be too big for what I really want (Over 5ft). Yes, it was actually a Union ship but I was fed false information (DAD)
Thanks for the feedback
