Title: recomendation on camera's for model tug.
Post by: dmw_boatboy on April 22, 2013, 08:31:44 pm
HI all

Im currently building a 1:32nd scale tug and was thinking of fitting a small camera
so i can record are in club model comps at water level.
In the past i have just attached a normal digital camera to the boat but you cannot tell untill
you get home weather you have anything good. then there the editing of it.

I no im asking a lot but it there a reasonable quality budget price wireless camera i can connect to a laptop so i can view what the camera is looking at and record or take pictures from the shore.

Or would somthing like this be any good?

When i say budget i really mean i dont want to be spending £100s As i no you get what you pay for
which i am finding more and more sadly.

There seem to be some inconsistencies between parts of the description, pictures and specification.
Is the range of 20 metres OK?
The RX needs a healthy battery, but the spec says 6 volts while the picture of the unit says 9-12. Or 9v, depending on which bit of the spec is being read.
Possibly having a tablet that could read the stored media on a pen camera would be simplest - you will still need something to store what has been transmitted and see what is being filmed, and a video capture unit might be a big extra cost.
