This is one for you Mr D.M,(inertia)
Am I o/k in thinking two identical quality 4 Ohm car speakers
can be connected in series to give 8 Ohm resistance for use
with the Action P100 and101,14watt amp? re:- Rt = R1 + R2 = 8 Ohm

Yes, but watch out for phasing. They can end up cancelling each other out. One 8 ohm speaker will be simpler to install and is more likely to work 1st try.
-
In theory yes. In practice no two speakers are going to be exactly the same and so they will respond slightly differently to the input. This can cause distortion due to back-EMF but at the sort of power and voltages we are dealing with - plus the fact that the model will be a fair way away - this should be minimal, if even noticeable.
Go for it.
DM
(Just seen Malcolm's reply - you must connect the positive terminal of one speaker to the negative terminal of the other to avoid phasing)

Thanks guys,
Dave I will connect - from one speaker to + of the other
it will be run on 12v max.
I just thought I would ask the experts before I tried them.
once again thank you

Hi Dave,Malcom,
Checked the speaker polarity, as they had no markings on them,
made enclosures fitted 1 at the front & 1 at the rear of the boat
the boat is 48". Connected up switched on and !wow! %%
I will be getting some remarks from the older members of the club >>:-(
I may have to turn it down a touch, {-)
cheers guys
