Hi all I am looking to buy a tug kit for my next build I have been looking at several and so far have come up with two possibles
Artesania Latina Amsterdam Tug @ £229.00 or Lesro SunXX1 @ £204.00. these seem to be in my price range
Any advice, comments or suggestions would be most welcome.

Don't know much about the Amsterdam kit but the Sun 21 kit is a beautiful hull and a large bag of unshaped wood.

The Amsterdam can be top heavy unless the timber supplied has been very much lightened. The boat can be quite tender in a cross wind if my memory serves me right. I think it was the solid funnel material which mainly caused the problem.
Maybe recent kits have improved and the problem solved?

And not very good quality wood either, and the Bow is the wrong shape

Just to follow up on my previous post, you could do a lot worse than consider Model Slipway's Al Khubar or Dutch Courage for good value and quality. They are both around the same price and far more up to date in kit design.
I suggest you go to a couple of shows and ask around a bit before you buy. :-))

Just beat me to it there Kite man.
The Dutch Courage is a great little kit
that will make a great little tug.

You could try a Mobile Marine Models semi kit, they come complete with motor, shaft propetc and electric lighting, here's a couple in your price range

All their kits are of the highest quality, and you have the choice og building in wood or plastic, and are a great introduction into building from plans, with as much help as you need at the end of the phone line......

Thanks for all your comments and advice .
I have just been on the phone to Lesro and I think that the Sun XX1 will be the best model for me to build it seems to be about the right level for someone of my limited experience .
If anyone is familiar with this model please post as I can do with all the information I can get
regards Ian :-)

Like others on here have already said I realy would look at Model Slipways Dutch Courage it,s a great kit for the price only thing I would do would be to use Mobile Marine Model motors either two T4,s or T12,s if your going to tow things. others may use others but I love them.
Regards Howard.

The Sun XX1 I have re built quite a few of thesetomake them look better, pictures attached of some that I have re built. I think Mobile Marine would be a better bet for you as you can buy the kit in several parts as the build progresses and all the bits and pieces are readily available , ring them and have a chat.
