Hi all,
For years and years ive been up and down the M1 going to various places, and ive noticed a field full of black aerial things.
Its located around 5 miles north of watford gap services on the M1.
Can anyone tell me what they are for?

yes......we have a set of them about 8 miles from where I live Dan...........our site is called HMS Inskip
They are monitoring areals for the Ministry of Defence and are the aerials that pick up every radio, TV and mobile phone communication anywhere in the world...they are our eyes and ears in our continuing fight against terrorism.
I was once given a guided tour around Inskip as a friend of mine was one of the staff at the station and it was fascinating.......they are , for want of a better word......a modern day GCHQ........and there are a number of stations around the country all linked and patched in to each other, monitoring certain areas of the world.

At five miles past Watford Gap on the M1, they are the Transmitters at Rugby.

Rugby still transmits the time signal on H/F all around the world. Not a lot of H/F traffic left now. Satcom has taken over.

there is more to those masts than is commonly disclosed.

Yes, HF radio signals have been going around the world for years. Ask any amateur radio operator (well ask the ones that still use HF rather than the ones that use computers!)
In fact, F4TCT sounds like a French amateur radio call sign.......
