Hi everyone, so here's the start of my build, not got very far yet but it's a start.

Aha, sucess at last! The front keel section becomes quite fragile after doublers have been glued on, so be careful with that, the next fiddly thing is instaling the rear keel section whilst keeping a 4mm gap for the rudder rod to go through, and installing the prop tube, and installing joining doublers to join the front and rear keel sections, much measuring and re-measuring, but I think it's all properly aligned :o

Might it be a good idea to nail/screw the frames to a building board of some sorts to keep the frames vertical and straight....NOT a critisim at all just a thought....looking fwd to seeing this built

Thanks stavros, the kit does come with a foam template thing 'tis quite flimsy tho', had quite a 'mare today with attaching stringers to frame, you have to file/sand the frame slots to accomodate the curve of the bow, my clamps kept jumping off, it took me ages today and now it's too dark to take photos so will have to wait 'till tomorrow for those.

when building frames like that lego comes in extremley handy for holding parts together square while the glue sets.

39clips some bonsai wire and I think I'm there. I would shape the bow frames before installing, If I was to make another, because there is not enough room to sand/file when in situ. >>:-( Thanks for the heads up about Lego.

Looking good so far.
I have already built their classic speed boat and Diva and if the Jenny is anything like them, should go together very well.
I found it was best to use double sided tape on the Depron building build and fix it down to something more substantial, no chance of it moving and getting out of shape.
Also, make sure all the cut out's in the bulkheads are the correct depth.
Once the basic framework was built and dry, I removed it from the building board for gluing on the sides as it made it a lot easier to clamp the sides.
Still got another Classic speed boat to build and the Jenny as well. So will follow this and see how you get on.

Not too much to report this time just the stringers installed, I think. I will have to do a few adjustments/sanding, the drawings aren't too clear on correct fit.

Well all stringers in place, transom fitted, all seems to be going well despite the manual pictures a bit light on detail.

Thanks for the P.M. and image I was coming to the same conclusion, about the shaped frame. At the Mo I'm attempting to glue the steep curve of the bow only, leaving the rear sides loose to follow it's own natural curve, this limits the separating force applied at the bow if you try to fix all in one go. The problem with this is that you don't get a continuous bead of glue- risking the chance of a leak, time will tell.
Sorry to anyone else, as this probably doesn't make sense, but I've been having trouble getting the sides to stay in place using tape as suggested in the instructions

A staged gluing effort I've got plenty of glue overspill, but none on the mahogany :D so I'm hoping a trim and sanding will do the trick on the part that will be painted, water tightness is another question tho', time will tell.

It always takes two attempts for me to post, anyone else have this problem? Anyway sides and transom on! and right side up. Not without problems tho' sides slipped whilst glue setting despite putting as many clamps on as I could physically fit on the frame, and parcel tape along the full length. of the hull joint, not all doom and gloom tho' I got a good fit at the bow.

One tip for any one, never throw away any 'scrap' pieces of wood until you've completly finished your project. I used some strip to repair the shortfal on the side of the boat and of course it matches completely, you only have to worry about your ability to measure well then. The white repair on the, chine? is milliput fine it's a bit solid for an easy application, but if you wet your applicator it makes things much easier; and it sands down very nicely too.

Hi there I'm thinking of maybe a fishing boat from Billing boats, Boulogne Etaples fishing cutter, or a tug boat. I rather like the Aero-naut steam tug Kalle. depends if I'm up for a serious challenge of plank on frame or a ready made hull, I guess both have their problems.
