Hi Olly, how long did you wait before respraying with the Halfords primer,
If you don,t respray within 15mins you have to leave it 24hrs, if you have put
a thick coat on you may have to wait longer than that.
I have used both primers with no problems, if you give too thick a second coat
it may react. What I always do when over-spraying is to give it a LIGHT coat
and let that dry for 24hrs or longer then coat it up as desired.

Halfords car paint is a cellulose based acrylic hence its bad smell. As with full size vehicles you can put enamel OVER cellulose but not the other way around. That is why you probably haven't had a reaction when spraying the Plastickote over the Halfords paint before.

I hate to disagree with Brian56 but the majority of Halford's off the shelf rattle cans are acrylic based paint not cellulose. That said it's still not good for you to breath the fumes and will definately react with Plastickote. You're options would be to take the paint right back to wood or to carry on with the Plastikote.

Tbh with you even carrying on with the Plasticoate there is a good chance it will react again....MMMM been there had the tee shirt and I am supposed to know better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just done a perkassa gloss over the primer and it reacted with the damn primer 5 months later ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
