| Roman was not just a 19 year old kid, he was an accomplished 3D pilot sponsored by Align Helis. Sorry Mark, I had to go onto another site for the quote, so the guy does seem to have more than a beginners knowledge? Not breaking any rules? I think personal safety is a good enough reason not to fly so close to oneself and I reiterate, luckily no innocent bystander was injured and although he was flying in an area "Designated for enthusiasts", it was still in a public park. Another throwaway quotation from the report, "It is believed to be only the second such incident of this type" Yea, OK that's alright then. Not everything with a whirly bit in the front or top are dangerous and my own interest in aerodynamics of toy RC gliders have had at least two fatalities to members of the general public not involved with the operation, so stop making excuses for complacency. Ultimately it doesn't matter what went wrong, HE can't be mended so a salutary lesson to be observed by ALL who play with ANY remotely operated WHATEVER. Regards Ian. | |
