Title: Apache 56
Post by: Getemuphigh on October 04, 2013, 12:56:55 pm
Hi,
I've just bought a power boat, like you do....
Always wanted a petrol powerboat but to be honest don't know much about em, good start eh.........?????
Came across this for sale:
Apache56”
Zenoah Engine fitted with Lightened Piston, and ported head.
Fitted with “ cool-head” and a tuned Prestwich pipe.
Connected via Bonzi clutch to the stinger drive with external hardware trim tabs and stabilizers from Prestwich models.
Complete with 2.4ghz tx and rx radio gear.
Now where do I test run it??????????
I live in West Yorkshire and my local pond definitely won't allow it / or be big enough!
Cheers.

Harold Park is big enough, used to sail our "Screaming jet boats" there.  (Fire tender with Hunter, Sea Hornet with ED Hornet and Seaplane Tender {Adamcraft} with Racer.)

Join the Keighley Club (http://www.kdmes.org.uk/) or check out other clubs on the MPBA site (http://www.mpba.org.uk/affiliated_clubs_list.html).

By joining a club you will get first hand help at the pond and as a beginner it will help you immensely...

Bmprs is a fantastic organisation with lots of friendly members who run the sorts of boats you build.
Their venues are midlands based which would be a bit of a "treck" for you as it is for me, but racing is superb.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies, its all a great help.
Yes the Bmprs looks great, met one of the guys once when I sold a GPL hull to him, Kurt was very helpful and friendly even when I was selling !! Made me even more keen to get into powerboats.
Cheers,
Pete.

Agree im in the same boat down here unless i want to get a dry suit with a rowing boat then im limited. thats why depending on where you live theres an interest in in rc gas boats or not.The ponds/lakes here have the same because of ducks and swans we cant use !!!! I dont know if electric would be allowed but i think thats why there is not the mass interest in rc boats as in Europe or USA.
