I have 4 'Browsers' installed on my PC, might be worth trying another one...

to see if there is a problem, I always check http://status.live.com - this shows there are no problems at the moment.

My computer tried to put me on to Outlook. As I didn't like it I retrieved a Hotmail short cut from my recycle bin. Clicked on the short cut when put back on the desktop and I am still on Hotmail. If I hadn't kept the short cut I would have had to use Outlook.  <:(

Hotmail still works for e-mail accounts, it's the header page that's changed.

Outlook is the default email tool for Internet Explorer, the only other options in IE Setup are also Microsoft programs.  If a web site has an email link in the simplest form (ie mailto:) then Outlook pops up.
Suggest you copy/paste the email address into your prefered email tool.
However, most sites have email links capable of detecting your prefered email tool whatever browser you are using.

When MS started messing up their programs ability to run hotmail several years ago, I loaded Thunderbird.  Practically all I needed to know was the names of my email accounts and their passwords.  And my own name.  Thunderbird has been handling both my hotmail accounts and my talktalk one ever since, no problems.  An early version needed an extra program to enable it to handle hotmail, but the newer version has all that built in.

Just wondered if downloading this would help or will it install Outlook. As I said. I was lucky that I remembered I had the old desktop shortcut in the recycle bin. Glad I did as I do not like  Outlook.
