can someone tell me what you put inbetween decking the black stuff please and were to get it from

I think your on about corking which is a form of pitch often after a a tared string had been hammerd in between the planks with the boiling hot pitch poured on top if am right.

sorry misread your thread, some use black paper and some black elecy,s tape some just draw it on with a pencil.

I have found that a black felt pen carefully applied to the edges of each plank before laying gives a very realistic effect. However, on some timber, the ink soaks too far into the plank, testing beforehand is definitely recommended.

This also works with a soft lead pencil which is less likely to soak into the grain.
I have always (well 2 or 3 times) used black cartridge paper.
