Post by: Peter Herwin on November 04, 2013, 10:49:41 pm
Hello again after a long spell away I am back and would like to build a timber yacht from plans but have been unable to find any I like I would like one the same style and size as a Victoria from T/Tiger but not any larger do to transport, I fancy planking  the decks in two colours of wood also not more than too sails. Can any one recommend any thing I am happy to pay for plans postage ect.    Many Thanks Peter. :-))

Racing Sparrow  :-))
Comes in at 750mm same as Victoria.
Google it
.
I know you can download the plans fonr free and I
think you can now get an e-instruction book.
Can't give you the links as I am on my phone.
I have built the 650mm version and you can get the
plans for a 1 metre as well.
They are cracking little sailers.

Hi Peter,
another vote for the racing sparrow - I bought the e-book (including the plans )only a couple of days ago for NZ$ 8.00 (only about £4.40) and it looks good.
Finished the yellow Stag yet ??

Thanks for info on Sparrow looks good will go for one of them.  Thanks again  Peter.

And no Keith engine / gearbox to fit, all interior finished but no rush as have red one to use no fun in cold garage now prefer warm modelling indoors. Thanks Peter.

Hi Peter,
I too would recommend the Racing Sparrow. It was my first attempt at planking a hull and deck, found it very satisfying to do. My "Miss Sunshine" is on the Racing Sparrow home page.

Cheers, Terry

Here is my Racing Sparrow. I found it a relatively easy build and the instruction book very clear, although it took me a while to work out what Bog was!

My vote also would go for the Racing Sparrow.

Built mine from the book and attached plans; found them quite easy to follow; sails well

Couple of Smeed designs, Wing-ray, has an aerofoil sail or Sea Urchin MM class. Both hard chine designs.

Thanks , Dickyp
It will be the rigging most likely that I get in a muddle with but I will see when I get to that stage in the build.  Peter.
