Title: Electrical conductive adhesive
Post by: david48 on November 06, 2013, 09:37:05 am
Good morning all
Has anyone used conductive adhesive before ,it is made by Henkel the Loctite people. If it is OK I might have a use for it . I know solder is the best , because of unsteady hand I thought this might help in my case.
Thank s all David.

Going to http://www.amazon.co.uk/ELECTRO-CONDUCTIVE-ADHESIVE-HEATING-CIRCUITS-PRINTED/dp/B006UJGB7Q (http://www.amazon.co.uk/ELECTRO-CONDUCTIVE-ADHESIVE-HEATING-CIRCUITS-PRINTED/dp/B006UJGB7Q) and scrolling down to the product description, it does say that it is not intended as a substitute for soldering.  The reviews further down the page indicate that it is a brittle paint, rather than an actual glue.  Probably not the exact same product, but I suspect that they share the same family traits.

Hi David

Have you thought of using solder paste, you just paint it on then warm it with the solder iron and it's a nice strong joint I have used it a few time on yard arms when I have had several joints to do at once.

What do actually want to solder together  ?

If it's just lighting wires then you could twist them together and drop some superglue on top.  If it's electrical circuits for the motors etc, then you will need solder.  As mentioned previously, brittle is not the word we are looking for in our vibration ridden craft.

Cheers

And if you do go for the Solder route, you need 60/40 Tin Lead, NOT the "New" Leadless c**p.  >>:-(

Thank you all for the input ,I had not thought of solder paste what is the brand name please. The stuff Iwas looking at was not the one on Amazon ,the spec sheet/ COSH from Henkel says it is a solder replacement.
Thank you again .
