Title: Prawn trawler "Brianna" 97-98
Post by: B.B on November 23, 2013, 10:18:51 am
Hi There this model was started in 1997 and finished 98 again most of the build was while at sea, she is a stretched version of the "Seatech-Lady" from a 65' to 72',her features are commonly seen with the Vessels working the Northern Prawn Fishery in the Gulf of Carpentaria, I named her "Brianna" after my Daughter.
Built the same as the other chine models, ply glued on the frames (Using Areldite) then resin over the Chux wipe cloths to seal and strengthen the inside of the hull.
All the fittings for the model are made to the exact scale , I only buy the Trawl blocks, chain and the dreadnought anchors, had her completed before leaving the Gulf in November 98, then the float test was performed after arriving back to our home port of Brunswick Heads  N.S.W......hope you enjoy........

Absolutly love your builds, reading them all. Amazing that you build them onboard, beeing a seaman myself. Never ever been a fisherman but think I would have enjoyed the off-duty time on your vessels.
Thanks for sharing!

it is so nice to see models of fishing vessels from different parts of the world, and not just our own generic boats from European waters.........and such a beautiful model as well. hope you can show us more.

just one question.......where do you obtain plans for such boats and where are the real vessels built for you guys out in Oz and NZ......they have a particularly appealing look to them.
