Title: Marwina - from card to pond
Post by: dougal99 on November 23, 2013, 02:32:00 pm

Here are a few pictures of the build of my latest project. Marwina is a buoy layer and was featured as a card model in MMI in December 2009. I liked the look of her and decided to build a working model.

I scaled the card plan from 1:250 to 1:40 and did some internet research to get pictures and a GA drawing which gave me a guide to the underwater hull shape.

The hull is balsa planking on ply frames. The balsa is reinforced with glass tissue and resin. The superstructure is from 1mm plastic card.

I’ve omitted the rigging as this makes removing the superstructure easier.
