Title: Neptuncruiser / Neptunkryssare
Post by: Lothar on November 30, 2013, 08:19:29 pm
Hi Friends,

I added a new boat to my fleet. It's a swedish one-design-boat created by Lage Eklund in 1938. The scale is 1:5. It took me a bit more than half a year to build the modell. I am getting routined now...

Length 1,8 m, 0,38m wide and only 12kg weight.

Her name is Freja, she sails great and is very windworthy. It means I can sail her with a small jib up to 6 bft.

Hello Lothar, you have created a truly beautiful yacht, a real masterpiece. Can you tell me what type and size of wood you used for the deck and what type of caulking did you use. What was the black coating that you painted on the deck.
Andrew

Hej Andrew,

the wood for the hull is pine wood (Slats 8x3 mm). The Deck is maplewood (7x2) with 0,8 mm in between. The cabin is Mahagony. The black coating was the caulking from coloured epoxy with some Micro ballons and some thixoropic agent. This was filled over the whole deck and afterwards grinded down to the wood.

More questions?
